It has been a busy week with so many visitors from Australia- gone fishing group. Gone fishing is an initiative of Edmund Rice Foundation ERF with the aim of bringing together business people in Australia to fund raise for their projects in Africa. The strategy is for them to go for a holiday in Africa through Edmund rice with a purpose of visiting the humanitarian projects supported by ERF more so like slum tours.
Ruben Centre was abuzz with visitors and the gone fishing group spent a week both in the community and within the centre. They were put to task by our children with their song and dance and sizzling performance by the acrobatics group. Also they spent quality time with the kids during break time and they had fun. They also had an opportunity of experiencing the real life at Mukuru Kwa Ruben slums by seeing the hard conditions the people live in, mostly going without what they would call basic human rights such as food, water and sanitation.
