The Time is Now.

It has been 2 years 2 months and 17 days since Ruben Centre’s strategic project leaders sat together for the all-inclusive, conclusive and interactive Centre meeting. Led by RC Director Br. Frank O’Shea, the meeting took place on the 16th of February 2023 and featured other 17 staff members representing the organization’s strategic objectives; that is: Education, Health, Social Economic Empowerment Through Education, Networking & Advocacy and Organizational Capacity. In attendance as well was Ruben Centre’s long term friends and volunteers Michael and Alisson Slattery.

The discussion kicked off with a reminiscence of the metaphoric El Capitan free solo climb by Alex Honnold that was a constant reference point in the formulation stages of the 2021-25 Strategic Plan. Br. Frank then gave a reflection on the story of Noah’s Ark from the book of Genesis and asked staff members present at the meeting to correlate it with Ruben Centre. The Director then welcomed Michael Slattery who started his address with a question: What is the goodness of Ruben Centre’s current Strategic Plan? Michael went on to take the staff through a brief but well detailed answer to his opening query.

“One of the goodness of this plan is that each and every one of the Ruben Centre staff was involved in its design and development, one way or the other. Everything set in this plan can be achieved with diligence and dedication from all of the Ruben Centre staff,” roared Michael. The team was then enlightened on how all projects intertwined and worked together to achieve Ruben Centre’s vision of being present, compassionate and liberated. Michael concluded by assigning the team a task of developing five individual key performance indicators (KPIs) for the year 2023, for long and short terms.

The meeting began to wind up with highlights from all projects being shared by the respective representatives. It was evident that the work to implement the log frames of the current strategic plan was already in place across all boards. The meeting concluded with a classic tagline: Live Jesus in our hearts, FOREVER! The next Centre meeting will be in the next thirty days.
