On October 5, 2024, AEF Ruben Primary & Junior Secondary School had the honor of hosting a historic visit from Her Excellency Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of Kenya, and Her Excellency Tamara Vučić, the First Lady of Serbia. Accompanying them were the Principal Secretary of Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary of ICT, John Tanui, and Attorney General Dorcas Oduor. Nairobi Governor Sakaja Arthur Johnson was represented by Suzanne Silantoi, the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Wellness & Nutrition and accompanied by Chief Officer in charge of Public Participation, Citizen Engagement & Customer Service Ms. Zipporah Mwangi.

The day began with a warm welcome, as teachers and students presented flowers to the First Ladies. A symbolic tree-planting ceremony followed, and the guests were then given a tour of the school's facilities.

One of the highlights was a captivating performance by the school's orchestra and gymnastics club, which impressed Her Excellency Rachel Ruto. She encouraged the students to embrace technology and praised the teachers for their dedication.

Her Excellency Tamara Vučić addressed our learners, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and encouraging them to learn through play. She donated 100 tablets to the school's ICT Hub, and together with the First Lady of Kenya, she toured the institution and interacted with students who were already using tablets from partners ProFoturo and Library For All.

The First Ladies also visited the school's urban demo garden, where they learned about innovative farming techniques taught through the 4K Farmers' Club. This program equips students with valuable agricultural skills for their future.

Throughout the day, the First Ladies were impressed by the students' digital literacy and the school's emphasis on extracurricular activities. The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation from the guests, who were visibly impressed by the holistic approach to education at AEF Ruben Junior Secondary School.
