LIFE IN THE SLUMS!

Sometimes it's just crazy to think of the slum life, the environment and the way people live here. Waking up every morning it is painful but out of joy as if nothing is paining you. Here we don't wake to here birds chirping, we are always woken up by the noisy old matatus on the streets, crying children and chaos here and there. People don't have occupations here, it just happens that you are entitled to provide for your stomach or family if you are lucky! Too bad. What I have never found an answer in is why these children cry very early in the morning, you can't judge their cries! All am left with is unanswered questions. Is it that they are hungry or they are ill? Do they want to go to school like the few lucky ones? Or perhaps they want care and attention, right? But who will give them attention if all you find here are single parents?

Life must be too harsh to these young souls and unfair to the parents. Sorry, I always say to them but who will even understand you? That is the life they are entitled to, they are used to it and few will care about them.

These people are leaving in hell they don't do easy life. No morals here, oops sorry! How can I even say there are no morals when the environment itself is tempting, yes tempting! How do you expect a child to grow up in a proper manner and well moraled when parents are forced to have their conjugal rights in the same beddings with these children. How do you expect a 10 year old boy or girl not to know about all her physical body and how it can work to please someone or themselves if they wake up to find such scenes? Even the buildings here don't favor having those conjugal rights. Two bedrooms but I assure you nothing will be done on the other room and go unnoticeable.

The slum life.... Crimes do happen but you will never hear of them on the papers, even the police just assume it’s normal. One thing that is always hard to understand yet again is how these people have unity. No matter the crimes they commit when it's time to protest they stand together as if they have never had any quarrels. I sometimes say this is the life we all need to live, but I forbid it. For real, sometimes life in these slums is sweet! Yes, bitter sweet!! There's always hope, Hope that one day all will be well, but it's always well here when the sun goes down! Thumbs up to all donors who are striving to touch our lives in slums.
