December 1st is marked as the annual World Aids Day. During this year’s awareness day Ruben Health Centre and Youth Ventures Initiative engaged the residents of Mukuru kwa Ruben in an awareness campaign against HIV/AIDs.

On 30th November 2020 Ruben Centre Director Br. Frank had his last monthly Centre meeting. The meeting that usually has key program staff and their leaders was a unique (for the staff members) one. As is tradition, the meetings take place on Thursday from 2:30 PM.

Lydia Nekesa was born and raised in Mombasa. She has never seen the door of a classroom and the interest has never existed anyway. She speaks of two siblings- brothers- back in Mombasa, and a mother who got remarried. Due to her illiteracy she doesn’t know her age; but she is approximately 21 years of age maximum.

On 19th November 2020 an art competition was hosted at the Ruben Centre's hall. The competition involved grade 4 and grade 8 participants. The categories included painting, handcrafts and pencil drawing.
